Many people who know me know about my desire to travel the world. I am so blessed that I have been able to travel to multiple countries already, and there are so many more that I would love to experience! My love for traveling began when I was a kid and I heard about people taking missions trips to Africa to help care for those in need. The little 7 year old me was so amazed that there are people who travel to countries across the world to spread the love of God. I thought, “How amazing would that be?!” But I didn’t think that I would be one of those people who got an amazing opportunity like that. I thought that only certain people, who were specially chosen, could go on those trips. Luckily, I was wrong! When my dad became a Missions Pastor in 2011, my love for traveling grew. We have been able to make so many friends around the world and I have even been able to travel to their countries to see them! After traveling to Guatemala a few times with my family, and to Germany and Italy with my dad, I knew that I want to live in another country after high school. However, God has a plan for my life, so we will see what happens!
There are many things that I find myself complaining about. Whether it’s going to work, school, or being around people who try to tear me down, I get discouraged. However, a couple weeks ago after having a heart to heart conversation with my sister, we decided to think about these dreadful topics as our “necessities and blessings.” It is necessary for us to go to work in order to make money, so that we can someday travel to other countries. It is necessary for us to go to school to get a good education that we can use when we are someday on our own, doing ministry work like we want to. It is necessary to be around those negative people because that’s life and we need to know how to stay positive when others begin to bring us down. Those are the necessities, but they’re also blessings because we are blessed to have the ability to work and earn money to buy food and clothes. We are blessed to go to private, Christian schools where we are constantly surrounded by Jesus-loving people. We are blessed to be around those negative Nelly’s who we can be kind to and also bring positivity in their lives. Although I am excited for the places I am going, it is important to remember the “necessities and blessings” of life that will get us there.
When it comes to shopping, I tend to get very excited. But honestly, who doesn’t?! Whether I’m out and about shopping in stores, or just shopping online, I always stick to one rule. I can’t pick out anything in the full-priced retail section, until I’ve looked through clearance! This routine has saved me soo much money! Honestly, it’s hard for me to shop sometimes because I don’t have tons of money to spend, but I do have a love for clothes. That being said, I’ve gotten very good at saving money and finding about 98% of my clothes for less than $20. One of my favorite things to do is digging through secondhand stores or the clearance rack at target to find super cute clothes or clothes that might have potential! In the picture below (with my adorable mother), I’m wearing pants that I got for $4.30 at Goodwill, Birkenstocks that I got for $24 at Shoe Show, and a shirt that I got a while ago from Old Navy (but sadly, I don’t remember the price). Needless to say, shopping and style can be cheap if you’re willing to look for it!
